This is a control system for a 14 motor textile dye range. The system is housed in an e-house with all components prewired and tested. The e-house contains internal lighting and air conditioning. It is ideal for installation in plants where the environment is hostile to electronic systems and/or when no space is available for installation for conventional control system enclosures. The drives are Yaskawa G5 vector controlled AC. A common DC bus power supply is provided that allows sharing of energy between drives and provides a single point for bus energy dissipation through electronic braking. Power distribution to the drives is by bus bars which provides a clean look as well as eliminating bus voltage drops. The drives are controlled by a GE Fanuc 9070 PLC over a ProfibusDP network. ProfibusDP is a high-speed (up to 12MBaud) highly deterministic twisted pair network specifically designed for high-performance industrial control. The 9070 is a VME bus industrial controller which supports GE Fanuc as well as third-party I/O and communication modules. In this case, an SST Profibus network master is used to interface the 9070 with the drives. In addition to drive coordination, the 9070 provides temperature and flow control for various process functions on the dye range. Analog I/O for thermocouples and sensors are distributed on the line to reduce wiring and installation costs. The I/O are controlled over a GE Fanuc Genius twisted pair network. The I/O modules are GE Fanuc Field Control modules.
